This 1964 recording is Joe Henderson's third as a leader, featuring the famously underrated Kenny Dorham, and backed by the well-known and very serious Elvin Jones, McCoy Tyner, and Richard Davis. This is inclusive jazz; not content to just throw out an album of the aggressive hard bop he is known for (although that would be just fine with us), he brings in some serene and lovely mid-tempo rhythms courtesy of Dorham and understated touch. This is a great selection for a jazz fan of any level, and we're proud to offer it as our album of the week.
New, 180gm pressing on Blue Note.
