Consisting of a mix of standards and originals, up-tempos and ballads, and a trio number in "Ahmad's Blues", Workin' is the third in a series of four LPs recorded in Rudy Van Gelder's studio that came out of two legendary sessions in 1956. Performed by the classic Miles Davis Quintet lineup which includes Miles Davis (trumpet), John Coltrane (tenor saxophone), Red Garland (piano), Paul Chambers (bass) and Philly Joe Jones (drums).
