One Flight Up was recorded during that time when American jazz musicians were going to Europe en masse to enjoy more social and artistic freedom. This is the sound of Dexter really relaxing and letting his band do what they want. The Donald Byrd track "Tanya" is a gem. Taking up all of side one, it's 19 minutes flies by. Do not miss this oft-overlooked album.
